Ok gang it is time for a little nutritional intervention. You will read or hear at times that a calorie is a calorie. As long as your burning more than you take in it doesn't matter what you eat right? WRONG!
Look people there are functional foods and dysfunctional foods. In other words functional foods move you toward health, have particular health benefits, are dense in nutrients, are calorie friendly and contain healthy fiber. Dysfunctional foods steal your health and contribute to dis-ease! They are full of empty calories and lacking in nutrients, and are easy to spot as they are usually over-processed.
The problem is the grocery stores can be all too confusing with so many choices, that are easy and cheap. And let's not forget the fast food places that offer convenient cheap foods also. SO you all begin to think, "Well it costs too much to eat healthy and takes too much time to do so." Let me stop that kind of thinking right now. Yes better food costs more but you need LESS of it! When your body is working right it know what foods it needs, and it ends up being less food than what you are probably eating now. And time is what you won't have if you end up sick and ill due to decades of poor choices.
When you eat highly processed dysfunctional foods your body is never really satisfied, so you eat and eat to fill that void, then you are stuffed because you over-ate. Most people are eating high calorie and nutrient poor foods leaving their bodies nutritionally deficient. I can tell you from experience in research studies I have been a apart of (ask me about NIH) and in my own personal life, that when you eat higher quality foods, YOUR EATING HABITS CHANGE! Eating functional foods fulfills your body's requirements at a cellular level. Your sense of taste is satisfied, your body is satisfied, and as a result you will stop eating well before you are over-full!
